Gifted and Talented Conference in Norwich

Two leading philosophers will be the keynote speakers at Norwich’s Gifted & Talented Conference, taking place on Tuesday 10th December, from 9.40am to 3.00pm. Dr Peter Vardy, former Vice-Principal of Heythrop College, University of London, and Charlotte Vardy, an experienced teacher of Religious Studies and Philosophy and previously, a tutor at the University of London, will be providing dynamic and academically rigorous lectures as part of the event. There will also be plenty of individual, pair and small-group activities, as well as debate and group discussion.

Topics will include ‘What is Truth?’, What is Critical Thinking?’, ‘What is Art?’ and ‘What is Ethics?’

Norwich High is offering the opportunity for all girls in Lower V to attend, as well as students from other local schools. There is no cost involved.

Dr Peter Vardy and Charlotte Vardy will also be speaking at an evening of discussions on the topics of Genetic Engineering and Creationism. These debates would be of interest, in particular to students in Upper V to Upper VI, who are studying Religious Studies, Philosophy and Ethics, Science, Law, and Business Studies and Economics. Teachers and parents and also very welcome to come along to the event, which is free to attend. The evening will also take place on Tuesday 10th December, from 6.30pm to 8.00pm.
