○ Gifted & Talented

Candle has been offering Bespoke events since 2010.  Since then, we have visited hundreds of schools across the UK – and further afield in Europe, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australasia – working with many thousands of young people, their teachers, governors, parents & friends.

Schools love the quality and flexibility of our events, as well as our fixed prices – we don’t charge extra for VAT, travel and accommodation or booking fees and we don’t cap the numbers attending within one school. We promise that the price you see advertised is always the price you end up paying.

In addition, every member of our team is a qualified, experienced teacher with an enhanced DBS certificate.  We really understand how schools work and what young people need.

For some recent examples, we have organised:

● GCSE Religious Studies events for King Edward VI School, Southampton and Gordon’s School, Woking (Islam) and St Mary’s School, Ascot (Catholic Christianity)
● A Level Christianity events for the Grammar School at Leeds, Notre Dame College and Haileybury School, Hertfordshire, Philosophy & Ethics Masterclass for Portsmouth Grammar School
● Made to Measure events for Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Boys, Hertfordshire, Dulwich College, London, and Kelvinside Academy, Glasgow.
● Gifted and Talented events for at Colfe’s School, City of London School for Girls and Portsmouth Grammar School.
● Sixth Form events – for Skinner’s School “A Grand Design?” And “Ethics Matters” and for Ewell Castle School and New Hall School “Life and Death” as well as for Shebbear College and New Hall (Sixth Form RS)
● Enrichment events for Year 10-11 students at Haslingden High School, Queen Mary’s High, Walsall, Alderley Edge School for Girls, King Edward’s School Birmingham and Simon Langton Girls Grammar School.

Hosting A Level or GCSE Events

If your school is AT LEAST 1HR DRIVE FROM ONE OF THE USUAL VENUES why not apply to HOST one of our flagship A Level or GCSE Religious Studies events in your area?

  • If your application to HOST is successful, you pay us nothing, we take care of all the bookings and arrangements… and offer a small discount on your first 50 student tickets in return for the use of hall and AV facilities.  We also pay the going rate for visiting teacher refreshments.

If you are willing to take the risk yourself we sometimes agree for you to advertise our event to local schools, manage the bookings and arrange all aspects of the day apart from the sessions…

  • our fee is £1499 for the day and assuming you attract at least 100 students, your school/department stands to make a healthy profit and benefit from a lot of positive publicity.

Alternatively, if your school or college is WITHIN 1 HOUR’S DRIVE OF A USUAL VENUE BUT HAS VERY LARGE NUMBERS (usually defined as 100+ GCSE or A Level students) you can ask us to run a standard A Level or GCSE event at your school on a bespoke basis for £1499. We cannot guarantee to accept applications for this sort of event; decisions will be made on a commercial basis and on the undertaking that the events will not be opened to other schools in the area except by written permission from us.  Bespoke events will not feature guest speakers advertised for mainstream events, though sessions and resources will remain the same.   Any refreshments provided to students or teachers or hall-hire costs will be at your expense.   Nevertheless, if you have large cohorts, this might be the most cost-effective solution; for example £1499 divided by 100 students makes the cost per-student less than our usual GCSE ticket price, without even considering the cost of transport and extra cover.

For Bespoke A Level or GCSE Religious Studies events, we are able to tailor the content of sessions, such as to suit SQA Scottish Higher RMPS, WJEC GCSE, CCEA A Level or CIE PreU Philosophy and Theology, but topics must remain broadly the same.
